Football

Football, commonly referred to as soccer in some countries, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net using any part of the body except the hands and arms, with the exception of the goalkeeper, who is allowed to handle the ball within a defined penalty area. The game is typically played on a rectangular field known as a pitch, with goals at either end.

Matches are divided into two halves, and the team with the most goals at the end of the match wins. If the score is tied, the game may end in a draw or proceed to additional time or penalties, depending on the competition rules. Football is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB).

Football is one of the most popular sports worldwide, with millions of fans and players. It is played at various levels, from amateur leagues to professional competitions, culminating in prestigious tournaments such as the FIFA World Cup. The sport promotes teamwork, strategy, and physical fitness, and it has a significant cultural impact in many countries.
